Where things currently are (yeah, it's gonna be a while, sorry...)
So where things are with this project currently is...
I think to tell the story I want, with the impact I want it to have, I have to first make another game to set up the story. Should also be good practice to make sure I know how to make a Metroidvania, too. The good news is... I can basically just re-use the physics from this game and work from there. The bad news is, it means that whenever I finally do have a good chance to revisit this, it's gonna take even longer.
The other good news is though, I really don't think it'll take too long to make it once I have the right motivation. Progress on this was actually rather fast before the Clickteam Fusion 2.5 anti-virus false positive nonsense started kicking into overdrive and utterly killed my motivation to work on this. I really, truly do want to make this thing, there's a certain kind of Metroidvania that I want to see more of and I'm not seeing many other devs out there really doing it, so I want to do it myself so maybe more people will do it and hopefully some day encourage more devs to make something like it in the long run.
Sorry I keep taking so long. I have a lot I've been needing to work out in my personal life, a lot of other projects I had late in development I had to put off in favor of Xenogunner, and most recently I've been focusing on a personal project that previously was on the backburner that I've realized recently I can no longer really afford to just be a backburner project.
Hopefully you'll be seeing that personal project by the end of the year if I can help it, I don't think I can wait that long to get back on track with all my other projects that I've started and really desperately want to work on. But that one really can't wait, and those other ones can.
I'm really sorry this has been taking so long. I didn't want it to, and this is one of many projects I want to get back on track with some time in the vaguely near-ish future.

...goodness I really hope 2023 can be the year I get to start actually working on all those relatively smaller projects I wanted to make this year...
