...the tale begins...

You arrive at a place that is alien to you.

It would be so easy for you to turn back. You know this. And you know that you should, for you have heard all the stories:

"Nothing good awaits those who go in that abyss."

"Pray that you don't find what you're seeking if you ignore the warnings, because the thing you seek is praying that you will, and the abyss ignores uncaringly."

"Just when you think you've seen all there is, there's always more, and it's always worse than what you've seen."

"Sometimes, the body returns from there. But nobody truly returns from the abyss."

And yet... the allure of it. It's always the same story with everyone else. Soon, it will be your story too. And you know this. You know you shouldn't go. You know your mind is being messed with before you even go in, and you know that it's not to your benefit to listen.

But you are weak of will.

You leap into the abyss...

But what's the premise beyond the story..?

Temptation of the Abyss is a horror Metroidvania focused on a sense of atmosphere and mystery, using minimalist graphics and evocative sound design in combination to allow your mind to fill in the blanks on what's going on.

Dive further into the abyss to reach a new area... but is it really new?

It is recommended that you play the game without knowing what awaits you on your first playthrough.

After that, it is recommended you share hints and read hints in the comments below to piece together the secrets. It is unlikely you will be able to solve all of the game's mysteries on your own... neither are you expected to.

Can I launch it in DirectX9 mode, or OpenGL? because:

Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0x00000000 in wow64 32-bit code (0x76fb7e67).

oh! i... forgot to set the game to run in directx9 mode before release. lemme uh... lemme compile a directx9 version real quick. it won't be the main version in case there's bugs new to it since i'm not gonna bother testing it, but. it should be fine? sorry about that!

done! sorry again about that! i even tested to make sure one of the things i was most worried about works right, though it's still not thoroughly tested so i can't promise anything for sure.

Others, where are thou?
How shall we escape the abyss?
